Miriam Beloglovsky, MA, is a professor of early childhood education at Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, where she has the pleasure of advising and guiding students to reach their educational goals. She believes that every student has the potential for success and with the right mentoring and guidance, they can gain access to a clear pathway into higher education and lifetime success. She has been actively involved in CCCECE as a regional Catalyst and the Sacramento Regional Articulation Project for Early Childhood Teacher Preparation, and has participated in the Curriculum Alignment Project (CAP) since its inception. In addition, Ms Beloglovsky is a strong advocate for children, youth and families, and has offered consulting and support to a variety of family, children and youth programs. She has received a number of awards for her work as a professor, and community and child advocate. She is the proud mother of two incredible daughters and a cute little "Havamalt" puppy. In her limited spare time, you can find her pursuing her second passion as she designs and creates art jewelry.


Nancy Brown

After earning a degree and an elementary teaching credential, Nancy K. Brown found her way to the field of early care and education after accepting a tiny job at minimum wage in a small program in a garage in Santa Cruz in the early seventies. She taught first grade, preschool and served as a school board trustee while her own four children were small. She started several programs in her community, serving as director in one for over twenty years, moved to Cabrillo Community College and managed their child development lab and taught ECE courses. Nancy has always enjoyed starting innovative projects, and ushering new teachers into the field fit well with her goals. It was after retiring from Cabrillo College in 2005, leaving a full time contract, she began work full time on statewide projects like the Curriculum Alignment Project, conceived with a small group of her colleagues early in 2005.


Susan Carpenter

Susan Carpenter is full time faculty at Santa Rosa Junior College. During her 22 years at the college she has taught a wide range of core and curriculum courses. She has taught at Sonoma State University and Western Washington University in the teacher preparation program. Prior to college teaching she taught preschool and elementary children for ten years. More recently, Susan has provided in-service training for teachers working with children with special needs through the Connections Project (C.I.H.S.-Sonoma State University) and the California Early Intervention Technical Assistance Network (CEITAN). Currently she is a consultant for the Faculty Initiative Project and a regional lead for the California Community Colleges Curriculum Alignment Project. Susan has a MA in Early Childhood Education and is a reading and early literacy specialist.


Becky Green

Becky Green is the Director of Child, Family and Consumer Sciences for Imperial Valley College. She has been working with the alignment project since 2006. Along with her duties as Director of the Department, Becky is Director of Foster, Kinship and Independent Living for her campus. Becky is a local Children and Families First Commissioner and Vice Chair of the local Early Care and Education Consortia. She is also the coordinator for Imperial Valley College CDTC and Mentor Programs, and she is on the advisory board for CPIN in her region. As you can tell Becky believes that it is very important for the community colleges to get involved with their community.



Mary Beth Miller

Mary Beth Miller is a full time faculty member at Fresno City College, and has served as department chair since 2006. She is currently the treasurer for Central California AEYC, participates on the Fresno County AB 212 Education and Training Task Force, and co-coordinates the college’s California Early Childhood Mentor Program. She enjoys the “techie” side of instruction and for the past 3 years has taught at least two classes online each semester. When she’s not answering emails from students, she is raising her four daughters and has become quite an expert on the whole college application process.

June has been involved in the Curriculum Alignment Project since July 2006 as a steering committee member, work group lead for the practicum course, and as a presenter at the Winter 2007 Institutes. Currently a full time faculty member and department chair for the Child Development and Educational Studies department at Saddleback College in South Orange County, and self-confessed curriculum "nut" June is looking forward to assisting colleges through the next phase of this exciting project.


Susie Valdez

Susie Valdez is a professor in the Department of Human Development at Santa Ana College, has participated in the California Alignment Project from its inception and initiated her local community partnership among six local colleges to begin the process of articulating at the community college and with their local CSU. She is Membership Chair of the California Community College Early Childhood Educators, the President-Elect of the Orange County Association for the Education of Young Children (OCAEYC), a council member of the Orange County Child Care and Development Planning Council, and an active committee member of her local California Preschool Information Network (CPIN). She has worked with a wide variety of agencies and organizations on community need assessments and program evaluations. She is also a local and state-wide speaker and trainer on multiple topics including classroom teaching strategies, workforce training and professional growth, adult-child interaction, and classroom environment and transitioning. She is currently preparing to pursue her Ph.D. program, and working on her observation and assessment textbook. She lives in Irvine with her partner, Sharon Seidman (a CSUF professor), their son, Ryan, and their three dogs and iguana.
